KAI produces the so-called "dual-core" blade of the Shun Nagare series with innovative forging processes. Two different types of steel with different properties are combined to form a 72-layer piece of Damascus steel. The combination of the flexible and robust VG 2 steel with the particularly hard VG 10 steel gives a hardness of 61 (±1) HRC. As a result, the double-edged blades have particularly long edge retention and excellent sharpness.

The ergonomically shaped handle fits comfortably in the hand thanks to its soft, rounded lines. The forged handle on the grip gives the knife enormous stability and balances the knife perfectly as a counterweight to the blade. The rivets on the handle made of grey-black spotted pakkawood, an impregnated and highly durable wood veneer, give the knife warmth and value.
